My current research interest is the dynamics and the observation of the ocean surface layer.

For the dynamics, I am interested on a physical description adding the coupling with surface waves to the traditional ocean/atmosphere interactions.

  • How do we describe the drag coefficient and the exchange of momentum between wind and ocean in the presence of waves?
  • How do we describe the near-surface drift of materials? The near-surface mixing of atmospheric gases and of oceanic properties?

For the observation, I am interested in the remote sensing from satellites and radars, in particular using sea surface roughness.

  • How do we relate sea surface roughness variations to variations of current, waves and wind?
  • How does this relate to other properties of the ocean boundary layer like wave breaking and air-sea exchanges?
  • How do we complement sea surface roughness with other remotely sensed observations?

Another research interest is the ocean circulation at global scale and its link to the global distribution of salinity in the ocean.
