And now it turns!

Two years after moving from downtown Brest to IUEM, the rotating table is now installed. The picture shown it in action with dye to visualize the flow, and a relatively shallow basin with central cooling that creates a temperature gradient. The new system has a really nice mechanical decoupling of the table from the surrounding so that the water tank is free of parasitic vibrations. Now is time to install the laser Particle Image Velocimetry system (PIV) and a few other things. The first experiments will deal with eddy dynamics and eddy-topography interactions.
