Ocean waves and their various impacts on ocean circulation (mixing and wave-driven currents) the cryosphere (sea ice and floating ice tongues), seismology (microseism) atmosphere (momentum and other fluxes) remote sensing (well yes, the first thing you see of the ocean are the waves ...), geomorphology and coastal land use.

Why I'm doing it?
Waves are fascinating to watch... but also many people need information about waves (which is why we have created and we maintain the IOWAGA database and develop the WAVEWATCH III model). I do believe that research should be mindful of applications.
I'm still working in the context of the ERC-funded IOWAGA project . New things are going on there although I have little time for editing web pages.
I'm very much interested by wave signals from the future CFOSAT (led by D. Hauser) and SWOT satellite missions (member of the Science Team). And I also lead the proposition for a future satellite mission for currents and waves: SKIM.
Knowledge has to be shared. Beyond a small circle of Ph.D. students (Gwendal Marechal and Marine de Carlo), post-docs and collaborators (hard to list! ) I teach at UBO and you may be interested by this book (not quite finished) . My dream would have been to update O.M. Phillips treatise on upper ocean physics, but I'm sticking to what I know better "waves in geosciences", trying to be readable even by seismologists... For that, there is also chapter 3 of "Seismic Ambient Noise".
